Bear Hug
Coca-Cola brought back its famous polar bear family, this time in order to celebrate Mother’s Day. The year 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of these characters’ debut in TV commercials, even though the iconic Polar Bear had been a staple of print advertising since 1922.
Created by WMcCann agency and produced by Vetor Zero/Lobo – the first time a Brazilian team is responsible for a Polar Bear campaign – the spot entitled “Bear Hug” shows a variety of tender moments between mother and children, expressing the importance of Mother’s Day as a family bonding moment.
Produced entirely in 3D animation, directed by Nando Cohen and Mateus de Paula Santos, the film combines the graphic stylizing of characters with a realistic rendering of fur, snow and ice textures, as well as the naturalness of the bears’ movements – the 3D models of which even simulated their muscle structure.
