Red Bull
BC One
Since 2004 Red Bull has sponsored the annual BC One event, a worldwide breakdancing championship that in 2012 will have its finals in Rio de Janeiro. To promote the happening, Loducca agency created a global campaign to circulate through all the countries where preliminary events took place along the year.
Among the campaign pieces is a spot created by Vetor Zero/Lobo. The film shows a series of 1-on-1 B-Boy battles taking place in a stylized Rio de Janeiro landscape, from the famous Copacabana sidewalk through the Lapa Aqueduct, until we reach the historic foundry building turned venue where contestants from all over the world will clash for the title of world champion.
The spot was produced with a mix of techniques like live action, 2D and 3D animation, and motion graphics. The B-Boys were shot in studio with high-speed cameras, allowing their moves to be played at varying rates throughout the film. That footage was composited over 3D scenarios, which start all in B&W but are gradually taken over by colorful graphics as the contestants showcase their skills.
